Not long after we were married a co worker shared a recipe with me. Well I should say she told me how she makes green pepper steak. I went to the store that very day after work and bought all the ingredients needed to make this yummy dish. I followed her suggestions and made this wonderful dish that my husband absolutely loves. I have made this so many times I cannot count and I never measure. In my opinion, the best recipes are the ones you just throw together. My husband makes an absolute pig of himself when I make this. I hope I am able to recreate this recipe so that all of you can make this and enjoy as much as we do. I have yet to have my son try this, if you remember, he used to be picky. Up until he became a teenager anyway. Now he will eat anything and everything almost. The pictures were taken before I had my new camera but it looks yummy just the same. Lets get to it....
Heat up your saute pan with a tad bit of oil. Place your steak and cook that until almost done.
Throw in your peppers and onions and saute until they soften a little. I usually season with black pepper while this is sauteing in the pan.
Served Up With Love!
Green Pepper Steak
2-3 green peppers cut into strips
1 onion sliced in strips
1-2 steaks depending on size
1/4 - 1/2 cup soy sauce
pepper to taste
2 cups water
cooked rice
cornstarch
Cut green peppers, onions, and steak into strips. Saute steak until almost done, add veggies and continue cooking until softened. Add 2 cups water and soy sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes. Make a slurry of cornstarch and water, add to the pan, and bring to a boil to thicken. Serve over rice. Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteI think I'd make a pig of myself with this too!
ReplyDeleteI add about 1/8 of a cup of molasses and I use chicken stock instead of water. Everything else is the same and sooooo so good!
